How do I removed a dimmer light switch?
Ok, I am trying to remove a dimmer light switch in my dinning room, gonna replace it with just a regular type switch. Thing is, I don't see how the wires come out of the old switch, theres no release hole or anything on it. Also, looks like they have to black wires going into and the white wires in the wall werent being used? Is this how its supposed to be? I just bought this place so not real sure of the last few owners. The dimmer switch is a leviton if that helps any.
some dimmers have wires coming out of them and they should be wire nutted / spliced to wires in the box use those wires. the whites either were not used or they are the neutral passing through "if they are spliced together" either way do not use them A NEUTRAL WIRE WILL SHORT OUT IF U TOUCH TO A HOT WIRE. and yes to be safe and comfortable turn power off p.s. if its hooked up to 3 wires thats a different sitch hola at me if thats the case
