Should I buy the DM-50 or an XLR adapter microphone?
Canon DM-50 Directional Microphone which goes ontop of my canon hv40.
or an XLR adapter so I can use professional sound equipment ( I have access to them )
I heard that the DM-50 picks up noise such as moving the camera and adjusting the buttons while recording.

Get the XLR adapter. It will be more versatile and you can always use a bracket and mount a mic on your camera.
